History

The initial idea for Stillpointe Sanctuary was conceived in 1990 when the llama market began to show signs of dying and people were beginning to get rid of their llamas. Initially the llamas were used for showing and selling and we saw a pending challenge for the animals and their people in finding new homes.

Stillpointe Sanctuary was incorporated as a non-profit in Washington State in 2000, and applied for 501 (c) 3 status with the paperwork completed in 2001.

We ought not to treat living creatures like shoes or household belongings, which when worn with use we throw away." - Plutarch
